Lori Ploeger is a partner in Cooley Godward Kronish's Litigation department. She joined the Firm in 1998.
Ms. Ploeger's practice centers on appellate litigation. She has represented clients in a wide range of appeals and writ proceedings in the federal and the Texas and California appellate courts.
Ms. Ploeger is a member of the American Law Institute. She is also a member of the American Bar Association's Appellate Practice Committee and the Council of Appellate Lawyers. She currently serves as the co-chair of the ABA Appellate Practice Committee's Pro Bono subcommittee. She has taught appellate advocacy as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law.
Before joining Cooley, Ms. Ploeger served as a law clerk to the Honorable Fortunato P. Benavides of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Ms. Ploeger also practiced in the Austin office of Brown McCarroll & Oaks Hartline LLP, where she focused on general and appellate litigation. During 1995, she served as a briefing attorney to the Honorable Priscilla R. Owen of the Supreme Court of Texas.
Ms. Ploeger received a J.D. with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1994 and is a member of the Order of the Coif. While in law school, she was named Keeper of the Peregrinus for the Chancellors Honor Society and served as an executive editor of the Texas Law Review. In 1991, Ms. Ploeger received a B.A. degree with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Ms. Ploeger is a member of the State Bars of California and Texas and is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the District of Columbia Circuit, the First Circuit, the Fourth Circuit, the Fifth Circuit, the Ninth Circuit, and the Eleventh Circuit, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of California and the Western District of Texas.
