Mark M. Hrenya is a partner in the Tax practice group and a member of the Cooley Business department. He joined the Firm in February 2001 and is resident in the Colorado office.
His transactional practice focuses on international tax planning for cross-border mergers, acquisition, joint ventures and financings. Mr. Hrenya advises U.S. based companies and venture capital funds on tax matters related to the structuring of their international operations and investments, intellectual property transfers, transfer pricing, reorganizations, earnings repatriations, foreign tax credits, controlled foreign corporations, passive foreign investment companies, the application of income tax treaties, and related IRS controversy matters. He assists foreign-based companies and venture capital funds with the structuring of their U.S. operations and investments.
Mr. Hrenya received a JD from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (accounting major, economics minor) from Kent State University. He is an adjunct professor at The Graduate Tax Program at The University of Denver and a member of the American and Colorado Bar Associations.
