John Robertson, Partner In Charge

John Robertson is a partner in the Cooley Godward Kronish Business department and a member of the Firm's Pro Bono Committee. He is partner in charge of the Seattle office and joined the Firm in 2008.

Mr. Robertson represents clients in a wide range of transactions, including public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing transactions, corporate partnerships, commercial agreements and venture capital financings, as well as general corporate matters. His practice focuses on the corporate representation of technology and life sciences companies, both public and private. He has worked with a wide variety of clients in the software, wireless, telecommunications, medical device and biotechnology industries.

His clients have included Applied Precision, @mobile, Calypso Medical, Consera Software, Corixa, Dexterra, Drugstore.com, EnerG2, Finsphere, Frazier Healthcare, Frazier Technology, GoTV, Hubspan, i4cp, IceBreaker, Ignition Partners, LiveGamer, Medio Systems, mQube, Loudeye, McCaw International, Merrill Lynch, Metawave, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Optify, Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, OVP Venture Partners, Rosetta Inpharmatics, SonoSite, SourceLabs, Sotto Wireless, VacationSpot.com and Wavelink.

Mr. Robertson earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University. He also studied at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese American Studies in Nanjing, China.

Mr. Robertson has been named in the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in the specialty of Corporate Law. He was also recognized by Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business as a top attorney and has been listed for a number of years in the Washington Law & Politics survey of best corporate lawyers in the State of Washington.

Prior to joining Cooley, Mr. Robertson was Chair of the Business Department for the Northwest offices of Heller Ehrman. Prior to that, he was a founding member of Venture Law Group's Kirkland, WA office.

Mr. Robertson is admitted to practice in Washington state and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association.
