Cooley Expands Cyber/data/privacy Practice on East Coast

Washington, DC – March 31, 2022 – Michael Egan has joined Cooley’s Washington, DC, office as a partner in the firm’s elite cyber/data/privacy practice. Arriving from Baker McKenzie, Egan brings experience spanning data privacy compliance counseling, data security breach response and preparation, regulatory investigations, and M&A privacy diligence.

Egan’s practice covers privacy compliance and information management, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance, data breach response and transactional issues. He advises clients across various industries – including global online businesses, financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers, retail companies and others – on the legal aspects of global privacy and data protection, data security, information technology, and related restrictions on data collection and transfer. He has represented companies before numerous government authorities, including the US Federal Trade Commission, the US Department of Justice, and the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
