Cybersecurity in IoT
September 9, 2020
1:15 pm – 2:15 pm EDT

IoT devices and networks are being compromised to create botnet armies for distributed denial of service (DDoS), attack underlying systems, and create weaknesses that undermine the security of individuals, homes, businesses and industrial control systems. Ransomware is threatening to shut down businesses of every kind. The technical and behavioral factors contributing to security issues are not well understood, but fears are driving calls for legislation and standards, even as the tech community continues to innovate and the number of new or unforeseen risks increases exponentially.

Discussion topics

  • The security risks associated with IoT devices and initiatives by governments, standards setting groups and industry
  • The international scope of cybersecurity risks and the need for collaboration
