Roger Clemens Cleared On All Counts
Washington, DC – June 19, 2012 – Cooley LLP announced today that former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens has been found not guilty of all six charges in the obstruction of Congress and perjury prosecution brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office of the District of Columbia. Cooley partner, trial lawyer and Vice Chair of the firm's Litigation department, Michael Attanasio, represented Clemens, alongside Rusty Hardin and a team from Rusty Hardin & Associates.
"Clemens deserved nothing less," Attanasio said. "The case against him was riddled with profound problems. This jury wasn't taken in. It's been an epic saga, and we are all thrilled that such a decisive verdict has been delivered. Roger is innocent and he should never have been charged."
The trial, which lasted over two months, has been the focus of attention across the United States and by sports fans all over the world. Prosecutors alleged that Clemens lied about steroid usage and committed perjury before Congress. He was found not guilty on all counts.
Cooley's Litigation department boasts more than 300 attorneys with experience in more than 80 state and federal courts, arbitral forums and administrative bodies.
