Cooley Honored With Multiple Wins at Turnaround Atlas Awards

Washington, DC – June 29, 2021 – Cooley was honored with three transaction awards at Global M&A Network's 13th annual Turnaround Atlas Awards. Additionally, Cullen Drescher Speckhart, chair of Cooley's business restructuring & reorganization practice, was recognized as Restructuring Lawyer of the Year.

The Turnaround Atlas Awards are the world’s most prestigious, independently governed awards honoring the best value-creating transactions, outstanding firms, professionals and leaders from the global restructuring, insolvency and distressed investing communities.

Cooley took home the awards for Large Out of Court Restructuring of the Year for advising Pacific Ethanol on its operational and financial restructuring; Fitness Services Restructuring of the Year for advising the creditors on 24 Hour Fitness' Chapter 11 restructuring; and Mid Markets Cross Border Turnaround of the Year for advising Zealand Pharma on its acquisition of substantially all of Valeritas' assets.

Speckhart, who was honored with the Restructuring Lawyer of the Year award, has deep experience in bankruptcy, restructuring and financial litigation across a broad range of industries. She actively represents a variety of parties to insolvency proceedings, including creditors, creditors’ committees, creditors’ committee members, trustees and foreign representatives, and she has worked on some of the largest bankruptcy cases in the US. Of the top 25 corporate bankruptcy practices in the US, Speckhart is the only woman who serves as the sole chair of the restructuring department. Her story, leadership and vision have been covered by media outlets, sparking discussion in the industry around women in leadership in restructuring and nontraditional career paths for rising leaders in law practice.
