Cooley Hires Pivotal Public Companies Partner in New York
New York – October 6, 2021 – Brad Goldberg has joined Cooley’s public companies practice group as a partner in New York. Most recently, Goldberg served as a partner and the head of Simpson Thacher’s public company advisory practice – private equity, where he garnered strong experience advising public companies on all aspects of their compliance with US securities laws and the listing requirements of major US exchanges. Goldberg will play a critical role in supporting Cooley’s significant and growing base of public company clients.
“Brad’s experience maps neatly to Cooley in several ways, most notably his deep understanding of how to work with newly public companies, particularly those that have scaled rapidly,” said Nicole Brookshire, who co-chairs Cooley’s public companies practice group alongside Chadwick Mills. “He is a senior and game-changing addition to the practice and will be instrumental in advising our public company clients across our platform, including those on the East Coast.”
In addition to his considerable background in securities laws compliance, Goldberg regularly counsels management, boards of directors and board committees on a variety of matters, including US Securities and Exchange Commission and stock exchange reporting and disclosure requirements; board and executive compensation; corporate governance; shareholder proposals; the impact of proxy advisory services; and responses to formal and informal SEC inquires. Goldberg’s arrival follows the recent additions of Sarah Sellers, Nicolas Dumont and Rupa Briggs, who joined as a New York-based partners in the firm’s public companies group this year.
“The opportunity to be a part of Cooley’s established yet growing public companies practice, a core part of the firm’s business model, marks an exciting next move in my career,” said Goldberg. “I look forward to joining a dynamic team and firm that not only dominates the public companies space, but also uniquely emphasizes the importance of fostering a collaborative culture.”
