Cooley Team Secures Victory for National Association of Realtors
Washington, DC – January 30, 2023 – Cooley, alongside a team from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, secured a victory for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) when a US District Court judge sided with NAR and set aside the Department of Justice’s demands to walk back from a proposed settlement agreement. Antitrust litigation & enforcement partner Ethan Glass led the Cooley team.
NAR filed a petition in federal court to end a DOJ inquiry into NAR’s Clear Cooperation Policy and Participation Rule in September 2021 after the DOJ announced it was backing out of a November 2020 settlement agreement.
NAR is the largest trade association in the US, representing more than 1.5 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. NAR works to preserve, protect and advance the right to real property for all, as well as to serve as a trusted ally for its members, and to help ensure that its members serve their clients’ best interests above all else.
The victory also earned the team a Litigators of the Week accolade in The American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily column.
