Cooley Contributes to US-BOLT Climate Term Sheet
Boston – April 25, 2024 – Cooley advised on the development of the University Startup Basic-Out-Licensing (US-BOLT) climate term sheet, a new, open source climate and clean energy model term sheet providing best practices and reasonable approaches to technology transfer negotiations. As part of the Biden administration’s commitment to unleashing a clean energy boom through President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda and Earth Week announcements, the US-BOLT climate term sheet is nonbinding and serves as a representative template that investors and academic institutions may use to streamline negotiations for launching climate-related startups. Cooley collaborated with 14 universities, venture capital organizations and law firms on the term sheet’s development.
