Washington, DC – January 21, 2025 – For the eighth consecutive year, Cooley has earned the maximum score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s preeminent benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies, practices and benefits related to LGBTQ+ employees. By fully satisfying all the CEI’s criteria, the firm joined more than 750 businesses nationwide honored with an Equality 100 Award, recognizing leaders in LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.

“We are proud to be recognized in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for the eighth consecutive year,” said Heidi Erlacher, Cooley partner and co-chair of the firm’s LGBTQ+ Affinity Group. “HRC provides the leading benchmarking tool for evaluating a company’s LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion policies, serving employees, consumers and investors alike. There can be no doubt that much work needs to be done to achieve full lived equality in the American workplace. As a firm, we have taken concrete steps to implement comprehensive policies, benefits and practices that ensure greater equity for LGBTQ+ workers and their families. We are dedicated to continuing these conversations and ensuring firm employees are represented, respected, and supported at work.”

Cooley is dedicated to maintaining a workplace that values and celebrates differences. This commitment includes active and creative partnerships with clients and local and national law organizations that support people from underrepresented backgrounds, as well as diversity pipeline projects, law school diversity programs and community outreach.

The firm is widely recognized for its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts by top industry organizations and publications, highlighted by its recent honor from Seramount as a best law firm for women and diversity for the 13th time and its consistent achievement of Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule Certification status.
