About Allegra

Allegra focuses her practice on white collar defense, internal investigations, and complex commercial and civil litigation. Allegra has defended companies and individuals in investigations by US attorney’s offices and the Securities and Exchange Commission involving a range of issues. She has experience in every stage of litigation, from discovery through trial. Allegra also maintains an active pro bono practice in which she has worked on criminal, immigration and child custody cases.

Allegra’s recent experience includes:

  • Representing plaintiffs injured in the August 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and securing a favorable verdict holding defendants liable for conspiring to deprive plaintiffs of their civil rights
  • Representing individuals under investigation by US attorney’s offices for potential violations of federal law, including insider trading, mail fraud and bank fraud
  • Representing a technology company under investigation by the SEC
  • Conducting internal investigations for publicly traded companies into allegations of executive misconduct

Allegra clerked for US District Judge Paul W. Grimm on the US District Court for the District of Maryland.

While attending Duke University School of Law, Allegra was the president of the Women Law Students Association, executive editor of the Law and Contemporary Problems journal, and a member of the Moot Court Board. She also interned in the criminal division of the US attorney’s office in Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to law school, Allegra taught fifth grade in Colorado Springs, Colorado, through Teach For America.
