About Amanda
Amanda Main represents clients in a wide variety of complex business disputes, including contract disputes, trade secret disputes and copyright and trademark infringement matters. She also conducts internal investigations and represents clients in securities litigation and in Securities and Exchange Commission and other government investigations.
Representative matters
- Successfully obtained early judgment for $30 million in milestone dispute.
- Obtained dismissal of earn-out dispute for medical device company at summary judgment and secured multi-million dollar fee award.
- On the brink of litigation, led team to successfully achieve no-cost resolution of direct competitor conflict involving allegations of trade secret misappropriation, tortious interference and unfair competition.
- Secured complete victory for OculusVR, the world's leading virtual reality company, in trademark infringement lawsuit filed by video-streaming company Oculus.
- Defended alcohol beverage company in high-profile trademark infringement lawsuit over beer trademark.
- Defended numerous tech companies in investigations conducted by the Securities & Exchange Commission.
- Represented special committee of board of directors in connection with multiple internal investigations.
- Negotiated successful resolution of dispute involving claims relating to corporate governance matters.
- Secured early judgment for client in breach of contract dispute.
- Negotiated pre-litigation settlement of contract dispute to avoid costly lawsuit.
- Represented company in connection with a California attorney general investigation into an illegal lottery.
- Obtained dismissal of lawsuit against investment fund for lack of personal jurisdiction.

Before joining Cooley, Amanda served as a law clerk in Chicago for the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She also worked at an international law firm representing clients involved in business disputes, consumer class action lawsuits, white collar criminal investigations, arbitration proceedings and bankruptcy proceedings. In March 2010, Amanda published "Applying the Unfinished Business Rule to Dissolved Law Partnerships" in the Los Angeles Lawyer.
While at Pepperdine University School of Law, she was elected to the Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers and was a member of the Pepperdine Law Review and the Interschool Moot Court Team. She participated in numerous national moot court competitions and argued in the final round of the Vincent S. Dalsimer competition with Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court John G. Roberts presiding.
