About Amy
Amy’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, portfolio strategy and intellectual property (IP) due diligence for life sciences companies, with an emphasis on medical device startups.
In addition to serving as special counsel at Cooley, Amy holds an appointment as an associate professor of law at Loyola Law School, where she teaches patent and property law. Before joining Cooley, Amy was an associate at a US-based international law firm.
Amy received her JD from Stanford Law School, where she served as a notes editor for the Stanford Law Review and was recognized with the Jay M. Spears Award for outstanding service to the journal. She also won the Stanford Law School 2012 Intellectual Property Writing Award and served as an editor for the Stanford Technology Law Review.
Before law school, Amy earned an MS in bioengineering from Stanford University and was the recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. She received her BSE, summa cum laude, in biomedical engineering from Duke University.
