About Andrew
Andrew Keith is a litigation special counsel in the patent counseling & prosecution practice. He specializes in the areas of patent preparation and prosecution, particularly in the biotech, and pharmaceutical fields. Specifically, he has experience in patent preparation and prosecution of pharmaceutical formulations, small molecules and biomolecule therapeutics. He also has experience in matters involving patent litigation and drafting noninfringement, infringement, invalidity and patentability opinions.
Prior to joining Cooley in 2011, Andrew was a patent attorney at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton in Washington DC. Before entering law school, he worked for over seven years performing research and development in both the biotech and pharmaceutical fields.
While receiving his MS in chemistry, with an emphasis in organic chemistry from the University of Miami, he worked on modifying drug target kinase enzymes for NMR and kinetic studies. Prior to graduate school, Andrew was a research associate at Thermo Biostar, researching and developing rapid diagnostic products for infectious diseases.
