About Angela
Angela is an associate in Cooley’s Palo Alto office and a member of the litigation department. She practices in the area of intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on patent litigation, represents established industry giants and emerging startups, and covers a broad range of technologies – from telecommunication technologies to medical devices. Angela’s experience encompasses various aspects of inter partes review proceedings and patent litigation, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, motions practice and post-trial strategy. She also has experience with Cooley’s pro bono practice, with a focus on immigration matters.
Angela received her bachelor’s degree in biological science from San José State University. While in university, she took on leadership roles in student organizations – including the Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists and the Global Public Health Brigades – and joined extracurricular activities, such as the boxing club and the Flying Twenty flight club.
During her graduate program, Angela was a research associate in a neurogenetics laboratory, where she studied the molecular mechanisms of synaptic partner recognition. She also held a position as a teaching associate for various courses.
Angela graduated with honors from Santa Clara University School of Law, gaining admittance into the Order of the Coif, a national honor society comprising the top 10% of law school graduates from participating law schools. She also received a Witkin Award for Academic Excellence – awarded for attaining the highest grade in her Civil Procedure 1 course – and three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards – awarded for attaining the highest grades in Contracts 1, Contracts 2 and Professional Responsibility. Additionally, while at Santa Clara Law, Angela practiced her legal research, writing and advocacy skills by participating in various activities, clinics and competitions. She was a semifinalist in the Galloway Moot Court Competition and a quarterfinalist in the All Star National Mock Trial Challenge. She was a clinical student with the Northern California Innocence Project and also served as articles editor for the Santa Clara Law Review, director of internal communications for the Student Bar Association, and student representative for Santa Clara Law’s Equity, Justice and Engagement Committee.
