About Ann
Ann M. Mooney serves as the firm's general counsel and the chair of the Risk Management Committee. Ann specializes in the representation of insurers and insureds with respect to all types of insurance policies.
She has represented clients in both state and federal courts in insurance coverage disputes arising under commercial general liability policies, directors and officers liability policies, errors and omissions policies and products liability policies, among others. She also counsels clients regarding the negotiation and placement of insurance policies, the tendering and claim-handling process and the negotiation and settlement of insurance claims.
Ann also has experience litigating general commercial disputes in state and federal courts, as well as administrative settings. Her experience includes claims related to the interpretation and formation of contracts, partnership agreements and commercial leases. She also has successfully defended claims for malicious prosecution, unfair competition and various business torts.
Prior to joining Cooley, Ann served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rudi M. Brewster, District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Ann received her JD in 1990 from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law, where she was an Editor of the UCLA Law Review, and a member of the Order of the Coif. She received her undergraduate education at Williams College, from which she graduated in 1986, cum laude, with a BA in English.
Ann is a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association.
