About Cathy

Cathy Rude is a paralegal specialist in Cooley’s business department.  She concentrates on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on public offerings and Securities and Exchange Commission compliance.  She also assists venture funds with their reporting obligations under Sections 13 and 16 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 in relation to their portfolio companies.

Cathy also has extensive experience in the formation and ongoing support of private funds, including venture capital funds, private equity funds and hedge funds, and assisting investment advisers with regulatory and compliance matters.

Prior to joining Cooley, Cathy has been a senior paralegal in the investment management practice group at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Boston; a paralegal in the Corporate and Securities practice group at Baker & McKenzie LLP in Chicago and a paralegal specialist working with both the civil and criminal divisions at the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Maine in Portland.
