About Chen
Dr. Chen Chen works with clients on formulating and implementing strategies to obtain and strengthen worldwide protection for their inventions. He has extensive experience in advising inventors, companies at different stages, and research organizations, on building and managing their patent assets through the development of their products.
Chen also provides counseling to clients on a number of IP matters such as patentability analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis and due diligence. He has worked on IP related matters in various transactions including licensing, financing and IPOs.
Chen speaks fluent Chinese (Mandarin) and works with colleagues to help clients on IP issues in transactions related to China.
Chen’s background in both biology and chemistry enables him to collaborate with clients that have different technical focuses in the biotech and pharmaceutical space. His practice covers a wide variety of technologies, including small molecule pharmaceuticals, antibody therapeutics, plant biotechnology, virology and pharmaceutical formulations.
Prior to joining Cooley, Chen worked as an IP technology specialist and an associate at Mintz Levin.
