About Christopher
Christopher Hutter's practice focuses on intellectual property, with a particular emphasis on patent counseling, procurement and licensing and litigation. His electrical practice focuses on a large number of technological fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, wireless communications, fiber optic communications, lasers, semiconductor devices, computer software and the Internet. His mechanical practice focuses on a wide variety of consumer products and medical devices. He is the former co-chair of Cooley's patent counseling and prosecution practice group.
Chris is recognized as one of the top patent lawyers in the world by Who's Who Legal and is also recognized as one of the top lawyers in the US for patent prosecution by Chambers and Legal 500. In addition, he is named an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property for his patent prosecution and patent contentious work, and is named a leading patent lawyer by IAM Patent 1000, noted for being a “cutting-edge thinker” and a leader in patent matters involving cybersecurity, software and the Internet.

Prior to joining Cooley, Chris was an associate at Kenyon & Kenyon. Previously, he supported the Department of Defense as a research engineer at the IIT Research Institute (now Alion Science and Technology) developing engineering capabilities to evaluate the performance and vulnerabilities of electro-optic systems.
