About Daniel

Dr. Daniel Manson leverages his experience in organic chemistry and chemical biology to assist clients with matters relating to their intellectual property. He also prepares and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications in the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, Daniel assists clients with patentability and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, as well as in the preparation of invalidity and non-infringement opinions.

Prior to joining Cooley, Daniel worked as a technology specialist at Clark+Elbing, a boutique IP law firm in Boston. 

Daniel completed his PhD in organic chemistry and chemical biology under the direction of Helen Blackwell, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His interdisciplinary PhD involved the development of abiotic small molecules that intercept bacterial signaling circuits and may be useful in the development of new strategies to manage bacterial infection. Daniel has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles in journals such as the American Chemical Society (ACS) Infectious Diseases and Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, and is an inventor on an issued US patent.
