
About David
Dave focuses his practice on strategic patent counseling, patent prosecution and patent portfolio development with respect to high-tech computer and electrical companies. In addition to helping large companies strategically position and maximize the value of their mature patent portfolios, Dave has significant experience advising early-stage companies on effectively using their resources to develop a sound patent strategy while making strategic, business-conscious patent decisions.
Dave has also counseled numerous clients regarding prelitigation, patent licensing and patent monetization issues and has significant experience with patent matters arising in corporate transactions. His in-depth technical knowledge spans a wide range of electrical and computer technologies, including cybersecurity, machine learning, database technologies, software development, large-scale network design, medical devices and analog integrated circuit (IC) design.
Before joining Cooley, Dave designed and developed portable vascular access ultrasound machines at a large medical device company. He also worked as a software developer for an HMO, creating emergency department and physician documentation software solutions. During his time at The University of Utah, Dave developed a data acquisition system for an implanted neural interface used to measure neurological activity.
While at The George Washington University Law School, Dave was a member of The George Washington Law Review.
Dave spent nearly two years in Germany and is proficient in German.
