
About Fumin
Dr. Fumin Shi focuses his practice on the drafting and prosecution of life sciences and biotechnology patent applications and assists in the preparation of freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions. Fumin also has significant technical expertise in structural biology, protein sciences, antibody engineering and synthetic biology.
Prior to joining Cooley, Fumin had years of experience in technology transfer and commercialization. He was also a co-founder of a biotech startup which received NIH SBIR award for commercialization of an early stage drug screening technology.
Fumin completed his PhD in biochemistry and molecular biophysics with research focused on the biochemical and structural characterization of receptor tyrosine kinases. Fumin has co-authored multiple publications in scientific journals including Science, Nature and Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
