About Henry

Henry is a partner on Cooley’s commercial disputes team in London and serves on Cooley’s global life sciences advisory board. He advises clients in respect of a wide range of commercial issues that need to be resolved through investigations, litigation, arbitration or other resolution processes. He has particular experience resolving complex, international disputes for clients operating in the life sciences and technology industries. In addition, Henry also regularly advises governments and companies in the investigation and recovery of assets lost to fraud and corruption.

Henry has specific experience resolving issues for life sciences clients and advising clients in respect of fraud. He consistently achieves positive results for clients through the courts, in arbitration or through other forms of dispute resolution depending on clients’ individual needs. Henry also frequently advises governments and commercial entities in the civil recovery of assets lost to corruption.

Henry’s representative experience includes:

  • Advising the world’s largest clinical research organisation, IQVIA, in the successful defence of a High Court of Justice of England and Wales claim brought by Cardiorentis, a Swiss pharmaceutical company, for more than $300 million in damages for alleged breaches of services provided in respect of a global clinical trial
  • Acting for an American biotech company in relation to a successful claim brought in an International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration against a global pharmaceutical corporation in respect of the running of a clinical trial
  • Advising various life sciences clients in respect of disputes relating to clinical trials, manufacturing and licensing
  • Acting for the government of the Turks and Caicos Islands in relation to one of the largest civil recovery programmes in the world involving an extensive number of cases brought for the recovery of assets lost to corruption, many of which have involved appeals to the Caribbean Court of Appeal and the Privy Council, but ultimately resulted in the recovery of thousands of acres of land and millions of dollars in damages
  • Advising various governments and state-owned entities in respect of the investigation into systemic corruption and the civil recovery of assets lost as a result
  • Successfully defending a telecoms entity in an ICC arbitration regarding corruptly procured contracts and resisting all damages sought against it
  • Advising various commercial clients in respect of a variety of disputes – including a global steel producer in arbitration proceedings brought against an international consortium in relation to long-term supply agreements leading to a recovery of $130 million, and the owners of a Premier League football club in relation to a claim against their former lawyers for professional negligence arising out of the acquisition of the club
