About James
James is a partner in Cooley’s emerging companies and venture capital practice group. He has a demonstrated history of working with public and private companies in the life sciences and tech industries, counseling clients on public company requirements, equity and debt financings, and exit transactions. He has experience counseling venture-backed companies on day-to-day corporate matters, working on sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, and advising foreign companies on accessing US capital markets. James prides himself on translating complex legal issues into practicable advice for business teams on a global scale.
Before rejoining Cooley, James was deputy general counsel at RA Capital Management, where he advised on public and private investments, coordinated with portfolio companies regarding deal structures and terms, and provided counsel and oversight on regulatory matters. Prior to his stint at RA Capital, James was a corporate associate at Cooley and Foley Hoag.
