About Jessie

Jessie represents public and private companies and individuals in a wide variety of complex litigation matters and disputes. She has extensive experience at every stage of litigation, from pre-litigation through trial, and has successfully defended numerous class actions in federal and state court. She also has substantial experience representing clients in investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Jessie has a diverse skill set across practice areas, and she has represented clients in claims involving alleged securities violations, privacy law violations, breach of contract, fraud, trade secret, and unfair competition. Her clients include innovators and investors in a range of industries – such as social media, blockchain technology, digital analytics, life sciences, and retail. Jessie also maintains a robust pro bono practice and has represented clients in asylum, civil rights, and criminal proceedings.

Jessie’s representative matters

  • Defended an online travel company in a District of Delaware jury trial involving Computer Fraud and Abuse Act claims and pursued counterclaims for defamation, tortious interference with business, and unfair competition
  • Defended a virtual reality company and founder in a US District Court for the Northern District of California jury trial involving breach of contract and fraud claims
  • Served as lead associate defending a biomedical company and individual directors against class action claims under Sections 11 and 15 of the Securities Act
  • Secured dismissals and negotiated resolutions for dozens of clients with consumer-facing websites in lawsuits and pre-litigation disputes involving alleged violations of state and federal privacy laws
  • Obtained a first-of-its kind class action settlement for a blockchain company in state and federal court lawsuits alleging that the company’s cryptocurrency crowdfunding constituted an illegal securities offering
  • Secured favorable settlement with the SEC on behalf of a unicorn startup technology company
  • Obtaining dismissals of multiple securities class action claims on behalf of life sciences and biotechnology companies
  • Obtained favorable settlement on the eve of trial for a Native American family in a pro bono Section 1983 lawsuit against Lake County and the city of Lakeport
  • Secured asylum for pro bono clients in immigration court, following a multiyear representation involving briefing and oral argument at a merits hearing
