About Josef
Josef (Joey) offers his clients a comprehensive background in cyber/data/privacy litigation, with a focus on information technology, privacy, international trade and business litigation. He has extensive experience representing clients in government investigations and in state and federal court. Joey also has a passion for pro bono work, with a focus on impactful litigation for persons with disabilities.
Joey’s representative experience includes:
- Successfully defending a large technology company in multiple data privacy class actions
- Obtaining a complete stipulated dismissal of a putative class action for a technology company
- Obtaining a settlement for a technology company with no fine and no admission of wrongdoing
- Obtaining a complete dismissal of a putative class action on behalf of an automotive company
- Arguing and obtaining reversal on behalf of a manufacturer at the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
Before joining Cooley, Joey practiced as an of counsel in Washington, DC, for a large litigation firm.
Joey has published and spoken on dozens of topics related to privacy, technology, international matters and beyond – including authoring a book. He is bilingual in English and German.
