Joshua Siegel

Joshua Siegel litigates a wide array of cases in federal and state courts and in arbitration. His practice involves numerous substantive areas of law, including complex commercial transactions and contracts, employment, class actions, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, intellectual property, government contracts, business torts, unfair business practices and consumer protection act claims, trade secrets, and corporate governance disputes.

Josh also has extensive experience litigating complex e-discovery disputes, allegations concerning spoliation and the destruction of evidence, and the handling of electronically stored information in pre-trial discovery. Joshua is also a member of the Cooley Pro Bono Committee, and has considerable trial experience representing refugees who seek asylum in the United States after suffering torture and persecution in their home countries as a result of their religious or political beliefs.

Representative matters include:

• The Boeing Company v. Symvionics, Inc.: Defended engineering and management support services company against defense contractor's allegations of defects in delivery of U.S. Navy flight training simulators.
• New England Patriots v. StubHub, Inc.: Represented defendant against claims it tortiously interfered with plaintiff's relationships with its season ticket holders by encouraging them to unlawfully resell tickets.
• SigmaPharm, Inc. v. Mutual Pharmaceutical Company, Inc.: Represented defendant against alleged violations of antitrust laws and related state law claims relating to development of generic pharmaceuticals.
• K2M, Inc. v. Reliant Medical, LLC: Represented medical device company in action against former employees and distributors for trade secret theft, fraud, and breach of non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Priority One Services, Inc. v. W&T Travel Services, LLC: Represented federal subcontractor in arbitration against prime contractor resulting from prime contractor's improper termination of the parties' subcontract.
• PNC Bank, N.A. v. CJC Associates, LP: Defended owner of commercial office building in a complex commercial lease dispute.
• Medtronic, Inc. v. K2M, Inc.: Defended medical device company against lawsuit seeking preliminary and permanent injuctions for alleged misappropriation of trade secrets.
• Handberg v. ASM Research, Inc.: Defended information technology company against retaliation and discrimination claims brought by former employee under the False Claims Act.
• Clarabridge, Inc. v. Consentino: Represented leading international data mining company in lawsuit to enforce non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreement against former employee.
• Hill v. StubHub, Inc.: Defended class action alleging defendant violated ticket scalping laws and engaged in unfair trade practices by allowing its customers to resell tickets at unlawful prices.

Joshua is the author of Reconciling Shareholder Limited Liability with Vicarious Copyright Liability: Holding Parent Corporations Liable for the Copyright Infringement of Subsidiaries, 41 U. Rich. L. Rev. 535 (2007).

While in law school, he served as a member of the University of Richmond Law Review and Richmond Journal of Global Law & Business as well as a member of the McNeill Honor Society and the Moot Court Board.
