Leslie Cancel

Leslie’s practice focuses on employment counseling and advice, including recruiting, hiring and terminating employees, restrictive covenants, personnel policies and procedures, DEI efforts, harassment prevention training and counseling, proprietary information and trade secret protection, workplace investigations, and compliance with federal and state employment law rules and regulations. Her work also includes representing clients in administrative agency proceedings and assisting through the pre-litigation process, including litigation analysis, preparation, risk mitigation and pre-dispute settlement efforts.

Over the years, Leslie has developed a sub-specialty working with Cooley’s venture capital and private equity firm clients on matters at the intersection of employment, contract, and fund governance law. She has presented trainings on all aspects of employment law to executives, clients and at industry events.

Leslie received her JD from Stanford Law School, where she served as an editor of the Stanford Law Review and as director of the Women of Stanford Law Association. She received a BA in Economics from the University of California, Davis.

Leslie is a member of the State Bar of California.
