About Madhuri
Dr. Madhuri (Mani) Roy focuses her practice in developing and implementing comprehensive patent portfolio strategies for biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical companies. This work includes patent preparation and prosecution, strategic patent counseling and intellectual property due diligence. She also has carried out investor-side and company-side due diligences, freedom-to-operate analyses, patentability analyses and pre-litigation work involving questions of validity and non-infringement.
Mani brings 10+ years of integrative biotechnology experience to her practice. She has industry experience in mid-size and large biotech companies in the areas of discovery, target validation, screening and in vivo pharmacology. She has also conducted academic research in the molecular and cellular aspects of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases. She has authored numerous scientific publications.
Prior to joining Cooley, Mani was an associate at Morrison & Foerster and prior to law school, she worked as a patent agent at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. In these previous roles, she specialized in strategic patent counseling, prosecution and pre-litigation analyses for biotechnology clients.
Mani has an active pro bono practice focusing on providing legal services for those in need through the Pro Bono Project’s Lawyers in the Library program and working on Immigration and Naturalization matters.
Her doctoral research at Stanford University focused on the molecular and cellular aspects of gene therapy for the central nervous system.
