About Mathew

Mathew’s practice focuses on trademark and copyright litigation and trademark disputes at the US Patent and Trademark Office, as well as trademark prosecution, clearance, enforcement and counseling. He works with a range of clients, including high-profile emerging companies and established industry leaders, to obtain favorable outcomes in protecting their intellectual property rights in the US and worldwide. Mathew has helped his clients in the technology, entertainment, biopharma, education, automotive and gaming industries safeguard their valuable trademarks and copyrights. In addition, he is committed to pro bono work, with a particular focus on supporting LGBTQ+, Asian American and immigrant communities.

Before joining Cooley, Mathew was a research assistant at the Williams Institute, a think tank focused on independent research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. During his time there, he co-authored the brief “Federal Student Loan Debt Among LGBTQ People” and served as a panelist for “Likely Gains and Challenges Remaining for LGBTQ+ Immigrant Youth: Visions for the Future.”

While at Boston College Law School, Mathew served as a senior editor for the Boston College Law Review, co-chair for Lambda, and public relations chair for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. He received his JD in 2024.

Mathew graduated cum laude from UCLA in 2019.
