About Matt
Matt focuses on representing companies in venture capital financings, public offerings of securities, M&A, corporate governance matters, and other general corporate matters. He has extensive experience advising early-stage technology companies on their VC financings and general corporate needs, and he has represented companies and underwriters in a number of public equity offerings.
Matt also represents acquirers and targets in business combinations, including mergers and asset acquisitions. In addition, he advises publicly traded companies with regard to their reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
Matt has a track record of securing impactful deals and providing counsel to companies across diverse industries, including clean technology, data networking, ecommerce, entertainment and media, gaming, asset recovery, and technology consulting.
Well-known figures in the entertainment industry – including the Kardashian-Jenner family, Justin Bieber and celebrity stylist Kristin Ess – as well as companies such as Anheuser-Busch and Drybar that partner with social media influencers, entrust Matt with their most significant deals.
Matt has led multiple pro bono initiatives at Cooley, including an adoption clinic and representation of companies founded by people from historically underserved groups.
Prior to joining Cooley, Matt was an associate at Pillsbury Winthrop. He previously worked as a research associate at the California Clean Energy Fund, where he played a pivotal role in the development of novel financial and policy models tailored to the cleantech sector.
