About Matthew
Matthew is a creative and skilled litigator who represents companies, organizations and individuals in complex civil litigation, arbitrations and appeals. He has worked for clients from a wide range of industries, including biotechnology, cybersecurity, sports, private equity and insurance, as well as sovereign states and a major international organization. Matthew also maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented three death-sentenced inmates in post-conviction proceedings in Alabama and Texas.
Before joining Cooley, Matthew practiced in the New York office of an international firm and served as a law clerk to Justice Steven D. Ecker of the Connecticut Supreme Court. He received his JD from Yale Law School, where he was a Coker Fellow and managing editor of the Yale Journal of International Law. Before attending law school, Matthew completed a doctorate in moral philosophy at the University of Oxford.
