Michael Young

Michael Young first joined Cooley in 1997 and is a senior paralegal in the trademark, copyright and advertising practice group. He has extensive experience in US and International trademark prosecution and enforcement matters and the management of major trademark portfolios. He provides assistance in trademark clearance projects, US and International trademark filing programs, trademark prosecution filings with the US Patent and Trademark Office, US copyright applications and trademark policing and investigation matters. He also has experience in preparing opposition and cancellations filings with the US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and ICANN domain name complaints.

Prior to re-joining Cooley, Michael was a senior trademark paralegal at Google from 2010 – 2017. While at Google, he provided assistance in the prosecution of the GOOGLE and ANDROID trademarks as the assigned paralegal. He also handled the day-to-day management of dispute matters for the GOOGLE trademark including the review of incoming infringement reports. Michael also was a member of the team handling all trademark search and clearance projects for new Google products and services.

Michael graduated from the University of California with a degree in English.
