About Willy

Willy Cowles practices corporate law with a focus on emerging companies across a wide variety of industries and stages of development. He has experience with corporate formation, venture capital financings, M&A and capital markets, Willy also has substantial experience in all aspects of private fund formation, including corporate, transactional and regulatory matters arising in connection with the formation and operation of US and offshore private equity funds, venture capital funds and hedge funds.

While attending Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Willy was a member of the MacArthur Justice Center’s civil rights clinic and was a note and comment editor with the Northwestern Journal of International Law and Business. During and after law school, Willy served as a public interest law Initiative fellow with the Shriver Center on Poverty Law, where he worked on impact litigation and advocacy on behalf of low-income communities. Prior to law school, Willy was an athlete who won multiple national championships and who competed for the US National Rowing Team, including at the 2016 final Olympic qualification regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
