Session 11: AI + VC Investment Due Diligence
10:00 am PDT // 1:00 pm EDT // 6:00 pm BST
The rapid evolution of AI poses new challenges for venture capital (VC) firms in several key areas, including refining due diligence processes for AI investments and leveraging AI internally to optimize operational efficiency.
This session in our signature AI Talks series is a special edition for general counsels of VC funds. It discusses the key areas for due diligence that VC firms should prioritize with respect to AI companies. “AI companies” broadly includes companies that have their own proprietary AI technology – such as those that create their own large language model (LLM), incorporate AI technology into their customer-facing product, utilize AI to create their product or use AI in their operations (but not necessarily in their product).
In addition to commercial, intellectual property and privacy* issues central to the diligence process, the session also will address considerations of antitrust, export controls and economic sanctions that are relevant to strategic and institutional VCs investing in AI companies.
* Cyber/data/privacy issues in due diligence will be covered at greater length in future AI Talks.
