Whistleblower Essentials for US Companies
How to Remediate Risks and Minimize Compliance Exposure
Event summary
The Criminal Division of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially launched its new Corporate Whistleblower Awards Pilot Program, which offers financial incentives to individuals who report corporate misconduct and meet certain criteria. This is the latest in a continuing series of steps by the DOJ and other regulators to encourage whistleblowing and corporate self-reporting, complementing existing initiatives from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and the US Department of Commerce. Collectively, these incentive-based programs place significant pressure on public and private corporations of all sizes to maintain strong compliance programs, address internal whistleblower claims swiftly, and remediate issues before a government investigation.
Partners Rebekah Donaleski and Daniel Grooms from Cooley’s white collar defense and investigations practice will be hosting Whistleblower Essentials for US Companies – a three-part virtual series featuring thought leaders across multiple practice groups to discuss whistleblower policies and best practices for reporting and compliance while highlighting key risk areas.
Session 3: How to Remediate Risks and Minimize Compliance Exposure
Join partners Rebekah Donaleski, Russell Capone, Elizabeth Skey and Zachary R. Hafer for the final session of this series, which will focus on practical risk mitigation strategies to help companies strengthen compliance programs, manage internal whistleblower reports efficiently, and proactively address significant risk areas. Attendees will learn how to navigate the DOJ’s expectations for corporate compliance programs, ensure swift response protocols, and minimize exposure under the evolving government approach to corporate enforcement.
