Oakland Airport Must Stop Using ‘San Francisco Bay’ in Name
Cooley partner Bobby Ghajar spoke to Law360 about the preliminary injunction he and the Cooley trademark team secured on behalf of San Francisco, barring the Port of Oakland from using “San Francisco Bay” in its international airport’s new name. On November 12, 2024, a federal magistrate judge in California ruled in the trademark infringement suit, saying that travelers might be confused into thinking the Oakland airport is affiliated or associated with the San Francisco International Airport.
