Cooley successfully secured a preliminary injunction on behalf of its client, the City of San Francisco, in a trademark infringement lawsuit against the Port of Oakland, prohibiting it from using the name, “San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport.” The Cooley trademark team was led by partners Bobby Ghajar and John Hemann, special counsel Judd Lautner, and associates Ryan Stevens and Jessica Williams. The case is City and County of San Francisco v. City of Oakland and Port of Oakland in the US District Court for the Northern District of California (Case No. 3:24-cv-02311-TSH).

Cooley secured another definitive victory for Emerson Radio, one of the largest-volume consumer electronics distributors, in a trademark litigation appeal by Emerson Quiet Kool and Home Easy.

Cooley secured a product line-saving trademark victory for Hailey Rhode Bieber and her companies, Rhodedeodato and HRBeauty, on July 22 when the US District Court for the Southern District of New York denied Rhode NYC’s motion for a preliminary injunction seeking to enjoin Bieber from offering her recently launched skin care line under the RHODE mark. Lawyers Michael Rhodes, Brendan Hughes, and Rebecca Givner-Forbes are leading the Cooley team advising Bieber and her companies.

Cooley secured a definitive victory for Emerson Radio Corp., one of the largest volume consumer electronics distributors in the US that has had a recognized trademark in continuous use since 1912, in a lawsuit against air conditioning and heating products provider Emerson Quiet Kool and wholesaler Home Easy alleging infringement of its Emerson Quiet Kool trademark. Partners Bobby Ghajar and Michael Tu led the Cooley team advising Emerson Radio Corp., and were joined by co-counsel Mark Anania and Stacey Scrivani of Stevens & Lee.

Cooley advised the underwriters on fashion brand Lulu’s $92 million initial public offering of 5,750,000 shares of common stock, which now trade on the Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol LVLU. Lawyers David Peinsipp, Kristin VanderPas and Denny Won led the Cooley team advising the underwriters.
