About Colette
Colette focuses her practice on trademark and copyright litigation, as well as trademark prosecution, clearance, enforcement and counseling. She has helped clients in the technology, retail, automotive, restaurant and gaming industries obtain favorable outcomes in protecting their intellectual property rights in the US and worldwide. Colette regularly litigates in federal court in disputes involving trademarks, copyrights and false advertising, and she has worked closely with her team to aggressively and favorably position clients for summary judgment, trial or settlement. She also has experience representing clients in trademark disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) and in domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP). In addition to the above, Colette provides intellectual property guidance on corporate transactions, such as M&A, venture capital financings and initial public offerings (IPOs).
Colette’s representative matters include:
- Winning dismissal of trademark infringement claims brought against Meta in Dfinity Foundation v. Meta Platforms relating to Meta’s corporate logo, which was recognized as one of the top trademark decisions of 2022 and reported in multiple publications
- Representing a pet technology company in a patent infringement, false advertising and trademark infringement lawsuit against a competitor, and earning an inclusion on The American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs list for winning dismissal of all counterclaims
- Defeating a trademark infringement preliminary injunction brought against an online supplement company
- Moving successfully to dismiss a complaint alleging trademark infringement, fraud and contract claims on behalf of a technology client
- Defending a top global beverage company in trademark litigation brought by a billion-dollar apparel brand
- Advocating for an apparel company in litigation involving trademark, trade dress and false advertising claims, defeating a motion to dismiss and obtaining a settlement
- Representing a toy and entertainment company in copyright litigation and prevailing on summary judgment

Before joining Cooley, Colette was a legal intern at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a top nonprofit digital rights organization, where she assisted with intellectual property impact litigation. She also participated in the Cyberlaw Clinic at Harvard Law School, where she advised clients on copyright, trademark, privacy and defamation matters. Colette is part of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s Pathfinder Program.
