About Lisa
For more than 15 years, Dr. Lisa Amii has helped medical device and drug delivery companies protect their intellectual property rights and develop patent portfolio strategies. Her molecular genetics background, medical training and hands-on general surgery experience has allowed her to work in a wide array of technical fields, including cardiology, gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, vascular surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, radiotherapy, robotic surgery, breath analysis, implantable and transdermal drug delivery systems, antibody therapeutics and pharmaceutical formulations.
Lisa also has deep expertise in performing freedom to operate and patentability analyses, and works closely with Cooley partner, Mika Mayer, on investor-side and company-side due diligences.
Prior to becoming a patent agent, Lisa was a resident physician in general surgery and research fellow in pediatric surgery at Stanford Medical Center. Additionally, while at UCLA, Lisa was an undergraduate researcher in the laboratory of Jeffrey H. Miller, a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, and world-renowned scientist in the area of DNA repair, mutagenesis, and mutation avoidance pathways.
