About Dawn

Dawn Roelofs is an IP litigation specialist in Cooley's intellectual property litigation practice group and a member of the litigation department. She has many years of experience managing complex IP matters in the most common patent infringement jurisdictions, such as the Northern and Central Districts of California, the Eastern District of Texas and the Eastern District of Virginia ("rocket docket"). She works on all phases of patent litigation, including Markman hearings and jury trials.

Spin Master Prevails in Sanctions Dispute at 7th Circuit

December 23, 2020

Cooley secured a major victory for Spin Master and its former subsidiary Swimways in a litigation filed by two individuals seeking royalties they baselessly claimed they were owed. The US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit affirmed an award to Spin Master and Swimways of nearly $272,000 in sanctions against the plaintiffs and their former counsel for filing and pursuing the frivolous lawsuit. Partner Jon Graves led the Cooley litigation team.
